Privacy, in plain English.

Spendify is built around a quiet idea: the less of your data leaves your phone, the better. This page explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. If anything is unclear, write to [email protected].

TL;DR — We don't connect to your bank. We don't sell your spending. The text you write stays between your phone, our backend, and the AI model that parses it.

01Who we are

Spendify ("the app," "we," "us") is operated by RHK Ventures. The app is distributed on the Apple App Store under the developer name RHK Ventures. You can reach us at [email protected].

02What we collect

We collect only what we need to make Spendify work.

  • Account information. If you sign in, we store your email address and a unique user ID. We use a third-party authentication provider (Better Auth) to manage sessions and credentials.
  • Spending entries. The notes you type ("coffee 4.50"), the structured expenses the AI extracts, your categories, and any budget or fixed-expense settings.
  • Device & usage analytics. Anonymous events about how you use the app — screens visited, features used, crashes — collected through Mixpanel.
  • Install attribution. If you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, we use AppsFlyer to understand which marketing channel led you to install Spendify. If you decline, AppsFlyer operates in a privacy-preserving mode and does not link your install to an advertising identifier.
  • Purchases. Subscription status, transaction IDs, and entitlement information, handled by RevenueCat and Apple's StoreKit.
  • Location (optional). If you grant location permission, Spendify uses your approximate location on-device to add place context to vague entries — for example, turning "coffee 4.75" into "latte, downtown." Your location is not stored on our servers.

03What we don't collect

  • We do not connect to your bank or read your transactions.
  • We do not sell your data to brokers or advertisers.
  • We do not train AI models on your spending notes.
  • We do not collect your contacts, photos, or microphone.

04How we use what we collect

We use your data to:

  • Parse your spending notes into structured entries and surface them in your journal.
  • Keep your data in sync across reinstalls and devices tied to the same account.
  • Validate your subscription and unlock paid features.
  • Understand which features are useful, which screens are confusing, and where the app is crashing — so we can fix it.
  • Measure how well our marketing works (via aggregated, privacy-preserving attribution).

05The AI parser

When you type an entry, your text is sent to our backend, which forwards it to a third-party language model provider to extract amount, category, and place. The model provider processes the text to generate a response and is not permitted to retain or train on it. The structured result is returned to your device and saved to your account.

06Third parties we share data with

We use a small number of vendors who process data on our behalf. Each one only sees what it needs to do its job.

  • Apple — App Store distribution, In-App Purchases, and (on iOS) the App Tracking Transparency framework.
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management and entitlement checks.
  • AppsFlyer — Install attribution and marketing measurement.
  • Mixpanel — Product analytics (events, screen views).
  • Better Auth — Authentication and account management.
  • An AI model provider — Parsing your spending notes into structured entries.
  • Cloud infrastructure — Hosting and storage on standard providers (e.g., AWS, Cloudflare).

07Where your data lives

Your account, spending entries, and settings are stored on servers we operate (and backed up to standard cloud providers). They are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Local copies are kept on your device using the iOS keychain and standard app storage; if you delete the app, local copies go with it.

08Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you a copy of the data we hold on you.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete your account and all the data tied to it.
  • Stop sending us product analytics (opt-out is available in Settings).

Write to [email protected] and we will get to it within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

09Children

Spendify is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions that apply that threshold). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone in that group. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we will remove the account.

10Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we'll bump the version on this page and surface a notice in the app the next time you open it. Continuing to use Spendify after a change means you accept the updated terms.
